Upholsterer and Trim Specialist

  

Job description

Upholstery and Trim Specialist

Unique opportunity for the right candidate to join a high-end classic car restoration shop working as-needed/part-time in our established upholstery shop. The Trim Specialist reports directly to the Operations Manager and is responsible for the restoration and/or fabrication of all vehicle interior components.


Responsibilities:

  • Disassembly and documentation of interior parts
  • Assess condition of all panels, carpeting, headliner, convertible      top, door cards, seats, dashboard, etc.
  • Determine best corrective approach – repair, replace, or restore
  • Develop templates from existing pieces
  • Create new upholstery pieces (cutting, sewing, etc.)
  • Create new panel backing as needed (wood, fiberboard, etc.)
  • Installation of interior
  • Assist with final assembly and finish work as needed
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned


Required Skills:

Ideal candidate will have skills and experience in all aspects of upholstery/trim work to include:

  • Machine and hand stitching
  • Accurately shaping new fabric pieces
  • Cutting, shaping, gluing materials (foam, fabric, etc.)
  • Construction of backing materials
  • Use of basic hand tools


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years working in a similar role
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Employment is conditional on satisfactory background check


Compensation:

  • Hourly rate commensurate with experience

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Salary: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Choose your own hours

Automotive Shop Technician/Mechanic

In this busy, high-end classic car restoration shop, you will report to the Shop Manager and use your skills and experience to produce the highest quality results possible. This is an opportunity for the right person to grow with the business and share in its success.


Responsibilities:
Daily Activities

  • Vehicle diagnostics and assessment
  • Vehicle and parts research
  • Repair of major mechanical components to include, engine,      suspension, brake, electrical, cooling, and fuel systems
  • Vehicle disassembly
  • Careful documentation, labeling, and storage of all parts
  • Accurately rebuild major mechanical components according to      technical specifications and best practices
  • Vehicle reassembly to highest possible standards
  • Routine maintenance


Operations

  • Communicate directly with the management team on issues and      priorities
  • Perform incoming and outgoing vehicle inspections and assist in the      development of estimates/proposals
  • Assist in identifying parts requirements, sources, pricing, and      quality
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years working in an automotive shop in a similar role
  • Experience with maintaining classic automobiles (1930’s through      1980’s)
  • Automotive certifications a plus
  • Must be self-motivated and possess excellent communication skills
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check is a requirement for      employment


Compensation:

  • Hourly rate commensurate with experience

Auto Body Apprentice

Job description:

Great opportunity to learn from the best in this high-end classic car restoration shop.


Learn or hone your existing skills from the body shop staff :

- Repair and replace damaged vehicle parts
- Perform bodywork, including dent removal and panel replacement
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding and priming
- Mix and match paint colors to achieve desired finish
- Use power tools and hand tools to complete repairs
- Assemble and disassemble vehicle components as needed
- Weld and solder metal parts as necessary
- Conduct vehicle inspections to identify additional repair needs
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer concerns and ensuring satisfaction


Experience:
- Some experience with body work and painting systems preferred


Skills:
- Proficient in using power tools and hand tools for repairs
- Ability to read and interpret repair manuals and diagrams
- Strong attention to detail and precision in workmanship


Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude
- Easily adapt to changing priorities
- Good communication skills
- Ability to follow direction
